 Haiti - Humanitarian : 25th Anniversary of the Spanish Cooperation in Haiti

The Spanish Cooperation in Haiti celebrated its 25th anniversary of the creation of the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID), on the Place Toussaint Louverture in Jacmel.

This ceremony was chaired by the Ambassador of Spain in Haiti, Manuel Hernández Ruigómez and Office Coordinator of the AECID in Haiti, Carmen Rodríguez in the presence among other of Vanneur Pierre, Minister of National Education representing President Michel Martelly, of Jacques Thomas, Minister of Agriculture, Ms. Maryse Noel Director General of Tourism, of Diretor General of the DINEPA, of Mayor of Jacmel, Adonis Noë, technical managers of the State, managers and heads of NGOs, of public jacmelien and several other guests.

In their remarks of circumstances, Spanish authorities recalled the purpose and objectives of the AECID installed in Haiti since 1991 as well as sectoral priorities of the country in the department of South-East "The contribution of this cooperation in support of the Haitian Government is undeniable in the fields water, sanitation, education, culture and heritage, environment agriculture and fisheries, governance and especially humanitarian," declared the Mayor of Jacmel.

Inthe objective to enable the Haitian population to have access to water and sanitation, two major challenges in the development of rural sections and cities of Haiti, the Director General of the National Directorate Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) thanked the Spanish Cooperation for its support in improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable Haitian families.

Agriculture plays an important role in the Haitian economy and food security, Agriculture Minister took the opportunity to congratulate the Spanish Cooperation for its support to the Haitian Government.

In addition to this occasion, the logo of the city of Jacmel was unveiled.
