Haiti - Politic: Mixed reactions to the call for unity, of President Martelly

The speech of President Martelly on 1 January 2014 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10212-haiti-politic-speech-to-the-nation-by-president-michel-martelly-excerpts.html , calling for unity and dialogue, promising good democratic elections in 2014, was received by various political parties and with reserve, others, refusing the outstretched hand by the Head of State.

The Deputy Eloune Doréus, in charge of communications for the OPL "Organization of People in Struggle" declared take note that 2014 is an election year, but expect clear signals that demonstrate concretely the Executive will to organize fair elections transparent and democratic.

Simon Dieuseul Desras, the Senate President also noted the statements of President Martelly and appeal the crisis actors to fulfill their responsibilities.

For his part, Senator Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé (North-East) said to wait before deciding to see if the promises of the President of the Republic will be followed by concrete actions

The former Minister of Justice (Préval / Bellerive) Paul Denis, a member of

great political council of INITE does not believe in the sincerity of the Head of State "You can not sit with a person who wants to return with the dictatorship in the country" while Dieudonne Saincy, spokesman of INITE notes that "this is the first time that the Head of State did not launch attack against the opposition leaders..."

As for Max Beauvoir, the supreme leader of the voodoo religion in Haiti he describes as demagogic the speech of President Martelly "How can we talk about unity when the President excluded voodoo sector ?"
