Haiti - Social : Localities of Ouanaminthe Illuminated for the First Time

As part of the execution of Communal Fund, construction work of power lines (MV/LV), carried out in the town of Ouanaminthe now allow the neighborhoods (Ti Laurier, Cité La Paix, Ruelle Canarie, Base Normale, Gaya Prolongé, Manquette and Cité Lumière) to benefit from the lighting for the first time pf their existence.

This electrification project, accepted for fiscal year 2011-2012 was conducted under the supervision of the Office of Monetization of Development Assistance Program (BMPAD) at a cost of 10 million gourdes. Rony Pierre, the mayor of Ouanaminthe, said he was satisfied with the completion of these work saying it is "an important step towards the development of this town." In addition, he announced that he had submitted a project to build a socio-cultural center for 2012-2013, noting that "this center will enable the city to meet the needs of a population of over 90,000 people, mostly young people."

Other electrification projects under the Communal Fund have been completed throughout the country among others : the electrification/extension of 4km of the grid from Carrefour Nerette to Jeandodin (Aquin), the electrification of the town of Cayes-Jacmel, electrification of the road of Lindor, through Marie Propre (Fonds-des-Nègres), the electrification of Downtown of Kenscoff, Platon Jacques, Godé and Robin...

Laurent Lamothe as Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, continues to encourage local authorities to use the Communal Fund (10 million gourdes per commune) and to propose projects in one of five eligible categories: equipment public, public infrastructure, civil protection, protection and management of the environment and cultural facilities to improve the living conditions of the population.
