Following the meetings on 15 and 17 January 2014, Major David Basile, the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), has reached a new stage in the talks aimed at restoring social peace, order and serenity in Cité Soleil.

Tuesday, during a third meeting, the Minister brought organized groups of Cité Soleil tto enter into consultations to formulate themselves, reflections and way of favorable solutions to their future, of course with the support of the State.

At this recent meeting commitments in good faith have been made in taking into account the various previous meetings held between the Minister and members of popular organizations, women's associations and several notable of neighborhoods of the commune of Cité Soleil.

A Pact for Social Peace was submitted for discussion, waiting to be co-signed by the representatives of neighborhoods, organized groups and mandated of the main groups into open conflict. Based on this agreement, the issue of cartel of Cité Soleil (highly contested) will also be addressed administratively on the basis of consensus sanctioned by the MICT. Similarly, all parties are committed to respect the agreement found and promised to notice of their involvement in public affairs for the proper operation of the City and ensuring order and growth.

Minister Basil rejoiced of the choice of antagonists to borrow the voice of dialogue that responsible them on the future of their community.

MICT will pay attention to the follow of this agreement in favor of order and serenity to ensure a better quality of life for residents of Cité Soleil. Further outreach activities are planned to promote the culture of peace, stop the spread of conflict and create a climate conducive to the establishment by the State, of social programs and basic services of the Government for the benefit of population.
