Haiti - Politic : 29,77% of women work in the public service

"[...] 29.77% of women are currently working in the public service" revealed Uder Anthony the General Coordinator of the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH).

Although we seems to be closer to the 30% quota of women minimum at all levels as required by the Constitution, the OMRH wants to go further by putting in place a mechanism that will regularly inform the public about the percentage of women within the classifications of the Public Service between support staff, technicians, middle executives and superior executives.

To this end, the census which began operations Monday, March 10 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10684-haiti-politic-general-census-of-80-000-public-servants.html ,

is the first step towards the establishment of the Integrated Human Resources Management System, that will allow to establish the baseline on the distribution of employment between women and men in the public sector and truly pave the way for action and targets for gender equality in the Haitian government.

Recall that one of the key activities under the reform program is the identification and implementation of measures to encourage the admission of women in the civil service or their access to positions of responsibility. The Decree of 11 April 2013 that focuses on recruitment through competitive and merit-based, is one of the first measures to promote the integration of women in the Public Functions.
