Haiti - Environment : First Bilateral Meeting on Environmental Monitoring

Wednesday, as part of the implementation of the MoU signed by the two respective Ministers of the island during the meeting of the High level Governmental commissions on the negotiations Haitiano-Dominican held in Jimani February 3 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10452-haiti-politic-talks-binational-declarations-and-some-agreements.html ; was held in Baharona (Dominican Republic), the first Bilateral Meeting between the Haitian Directorates of Inspection and Environmental Monitoring (DISE) and the "Servicio Nacional de Protección Ambiental" Dominican SENPA [National Service of Environmental Protection].

This working session, aimed at strengthening the environmental monitoring program and its application in coastal and border areas, as well as harmonize actions of environmental monitoring of the authorities of the two countries on issues related to illegal trafficking of plastics, wood, charcoal and derivatives.

During this meeting, the two governments are committed to protecting the environment, the conservation of natural resources of the entire island and strengthening the environmental monitoring program as well as its application in coastal areas and border and the coordination of monitoring activities on issues related to illegal trafficking.

For the Haitian Government, the Biological Corridor of the Caribbean and the improvement of the environment is one of crucial issues of sustainable development in Haiti for the well-being of its population.
