Haiti - Justice : Haitians stole rebars of a frontier bridge

Haitian and Dominican authorities are investigating on the theft of rebar, of a border bridge separating the two countries.

The Body specializes in land border security (Cuerpo especializado in seguridad Fronteriza - CESFRONT) apprehended Johnny Jean Alexis, 33 years of Haitian origin, who confessed to being the leader of a gang, composed of nationals of his country, which stole for 6 months, rebars, which support the bridge deck connecting Ouanaminthe and Dajabon. The individual was arrested while trying to sell iron stolen to a metal recovery company in Dajabon.

Among Haitian market traders in Dajabon, a rumor suggests that the intention of the gang was to weaken the bridge structures to cause its collapse. Dominican authorities responsible for the investigation, have put aside this possibility and said that all indicated that it was a simple act of theft, adding that it was "no less dangerous..."
