Haiti - Politic : Alexandre Pétion in the Liberators Room in Ecuador

This Thursday, May 29, as part of the festivities commemorating the 192nd anniversary of the Battle of Pichincha (24 May 1822), decisive battle for the Total Independence of Ecuador, the Embassy of Haiti in Ecuador, will officially present a portrait of Alexandre Pétion, President of the Republic of Haiti [1807-1818], to the Governor of the Province of Guayas.

The ceremony will take place in the presence of the Consular Corps accredited to Guayaquil, officials and representatives of major chambers of commerce of the city.

This portrait of President Pétion, is a painting on canvas 2 meters high and 0.90 meters wide; work of Ecuadorian painter Raoul Campos. It will be placed at the Liberators Room of Palace of the Government of the Province of Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, alongside portraits of the Ecuadorian Jose Antonio Sucre, Venezuelan Simon Bolivar, the Argentine Jose de San Martin and the Cuban Jose Marti.

This delivery of art allow one hand to honor the memory of Haitian soldiers, members of the expedition sent in 1816 by President Pétion, who fought under the command of Jose Antonio Sucre, Lieutenant of Simon Bolivar and secondly this works is also the testimony of the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries for nearly two centuries, which have strengthened in recent years by the policy of South-South cooperation, implemented by the Government Martelly/Lamothe.
