Haiti - Justice : Audit Commission of the expropriation process

Two years after the abrogation of the decree of expropriation of a portion of lower downtown Port-au-Prince, to build the administrative city https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11287-haiti-reconstruction-the-demolition-of-the-area-of-public-utility-began-in-port-au-prince.html and nearly 1 year after the public hearings with owners https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9219-haiti-notice-public-hearing-of-expropriation-for-the-construction-of-the-administrative-city.html and the start of compensation, the bar of Port-au-Prince, informs that it established a Committee responsible for verifying the regularity of the procedure used in the context of expropriations that led to the demolition of many buildings in downtown. The Commission at least late... is chaired by Me Stanley Gaston, Secretary of the Council of the Bar of Port-au-Prince and includes counselors Pierre Marie Michel and Jean Lindor.

Me Carlos Hercules, the Dean of the Bar Association, said that all the institutions and persons covered by this expropriation process will be consulted as well as victims and lawyers with expertise in the field. Also he requests the President of the Republic to take all steps to suspend the demolition operations the time to monitor compliance with these acts, to the provisions of the law governing the expropriation, including the law of September 1979.

The Commission has a period of 15 days from 13 June 2014 to submit its report.
