Haiti - Politic : The opposition consults, Moïse and Fanmi Lavalas absent

Following the refusal of 6 Opposition Senators member of G6, to respond on Monday at the invitation of the Head of State https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11597-haiti-politic-senator-desras-relaunch-the-crisis.html the G6 and the opposition parties, have met Tuesday for several hours behind closed doors in order to establish a common strategy and determine the conditions of a possible dialogue with the Executive.

Of the 6 Senators in opposition, were only present : Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé (Northeast), Francky Exius (South), Westner Polycarpe (North) and Jean William Jeanty (Nippes), notably absent: Jean-Charles Moïse (North) and John Joël Joseph (West).

On the side of opposition parties, 5 of 6 were represented : Fusion, Inite, Kontra pèp la, Ayisyen pou Ayiti and the "Patriotic Movement of the Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD). Fanmi Lavalas did not see fit to be present.

After that meeting, he was asked the President of the Senate, to send a new correspondence to the President Martelly, to inform him that the G6 was now ready for dialogue and to agree on a date for the meeting, to be held imperatively outside the National Palace, in a neutral place...

The Senators were not very talkative about what was said during the meeting, they said that by Thursday, they will make know to the press the agenda items they intend to discuss with the Head of State.

Still looking for a solution to end the crisis, while some senators still standing their ground, demanding the establishment of a new Provisional Electoral Council under Article 289 of the Constitution and that the MOPOD intends to maintain inflexible its position on how elections should be conducted in the country, is likely to be a real challenge, or a further loss of time, if the opposition is not decided finally to make concessions.
