Haiti - Agriculture : 13th edition of the Caribbean Agriculture Week

Thomas Jacques, the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, has the head of an important delegation composed of his Chief of Staff Pierre André Paul, his Special Adviser Mr. Monde, of Consul of Haiti in Suriname, Alex Jospitre, of Members of the Office of Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Haiti, of Members of the Office of the Organization for Food and Agriculture of the United Nations (FAO) in Haiti, participated last week in the 13th edition of the Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA 2014), held in Suriname, on the theme "Transforming Caribbean Agriculture through Family Farming".

For this 13th edition, the delegation of the Ministry participated in various important meetings that involved the Ministers of Agriculture of the other Caribbean countries and members of international organizations such as FAO, CTA, IICA, CARDI and CARICOM and held talks with among others : the Minister, the Deputy Minister and the Permanent Secretary of Agriculture of Suriname; executives of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB); members of the FAO-Venezuela and leaders of the Haitian Community in Suriname.

Note that during these Assize, a workshop was organized on Haiti's agribusiness system to better understand the food production systemin order to propose key actions of synergies, Between Haitian food market and those of CARICOM. Was discussed inter alia of the issue of family farming, animal husbandry, poultry industry and fisheries.
