In total 88% of 450,000 plates of vehicles and 374,000 plates for motorcycles, ordered by the Government, are available the rest should arrive soon.

To get he license plates, 8 distribution points are available for the metropolitan area (Tax Centers of Delmas, Carrefour, Petion-Ville, Tabarre, Croix-des-Bouquets and Traffic Services (Delmas 2, Chancerelles)) and in Province these plates can be obtained in all departmental offices located in the capitals of departments.

As of this year is the return to 2 plates by vehicles, one in front and one at the rear (a measure that had been reduced to a single plate in 2009), to facilitate the work of police. The new plates no longer displayed departments and are available in 7 colors following categories (Government, private vehicles and heavy equipment, demonstration, rental and garage, Public transport and freight; diplomatic, consular; Temporary registrations; NGOs; tourist transport) and have a security hologram.

Registration tax varies between 1,000 gourdes for a vehicle with two cylinders (2,300 cc) to 5,000 gourdes for a vehicle 12 cylinders (2700 cc and above).
