Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly launched a 3rd invitation to the opposition parties

In response to the letter addressed to Yves Germain Joseph, General Secretary of the Presidency, by the political parties and groups of the radical opposition, explaining their refusal to sit on 12 November, with the President Martelly to find a solution to the pre-electoral crisis; the Secretary sent November 13 a third invitation of the Head of State.

In this letter, the Secretary says "as you said it so well, [...] - the challenges facing the nation can not be reduced to single election issue - also in the interest of saving time, the Head of State believes in the need of such discussion, which could pave the way for the preparation of new encounters," concluding "the President of the Republic remains open and reiterates you his greatest desire to receive you November 19, 2014, at the Karibe Convention Center, from 11:00 am. Although of the Group of six political entities only 5 signed the answer of 7 November, President Martelly insists to ask you to extend the new invitation to Fanmi Lavalas."

The leaders of five of six opposition parties : INITE (Levaillant Louis Jeune), the MOPOD "Patriotic Movement of Democratic Opposition" (Jean André Victor), the party "Ayisyen pou Ayiti" (Jonas Coffy), the Fusion (Rosemond Pradel) and "Kontra Pèp La" (Dr. Rudolph Prudent) confirmed the reception of this new invitation, but expect of having consulted before giving their joint decision.

As for Fanmi Lavalas, this invitation is considered as a mere information. According Maryse Narcisse, coordinator of Fanmi Lavalas "This invitation does not concern us." Fanmi Lavalas no longer believes in dialogue, negotiations or consultations given according to her that the Lavalas Party is in a state of political persecution. For the party, the mobilization to force the authorities to hold free, fair and democratic elections is the only solution.

Recall that the opposition parties insisted in their letter "[...] In the higher interest of the nation, there must be serious negotiations to reach a comprehensive political agreement and manage the conjunctural crisis and the institutional vacuum, that await us in the coming months. These parties and groupings of political parties renewed their commitment to engage in frank and sincere negotiations with the executive and believes that of delegations of the two parties still have time to get together in order to stop the agenda and modalities of the holding of this meeting."

However, in this new invitation, the President Martelly ignore, for the third time, the prerequisite of the opposition parties to set an agenda for discussions and modalities of the meeting. It does not matter for negotiation or consultation, this eventual meeting, being now described as "discussion".
