Haiti - Carnival 2015 : Follow Jah innovates by launching simultaneously two Carnival songs

The walking band Follow Jah innovates for the Carnival 2015, by simultaneously launching its new Carnival song (Pran Konsyans) and the remix of a previous song (Ayisyen fo pran konsyans, 2013), performed by the Malian DJ Mo DJ.

Mo DJ, is one of the first to remix African music, with a little drum machine that revolutionized the dance floor, "the Djembeni" (literally: small djembe). He has collaborated with many artists, including the Malians Salif Keïta and Amadou et Mariam. Based in Paris, Mo DJ is currently resident DJ in several clubs of the French capital. The remix of the meringue 2013 of Follow Jah is the result of this meeting. Mo DJ offers us two versions, whose one instrumental.

This collaboration is part of the project Men Rara, supported by the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL), which aims to put music in the heart of rara music news https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12655-haiti-culture-first-in-haiti-the-music-of-rara-object-of-study-in-ueh.html . Créée en février 2001, la bande à pied « Follow Jah » évolue à Pétion-ville, à l'occasion du Carnaval et d’autres fêtes traditionnelles et communautaires. Depuis 2010, en collaboration avec Caracoli, elle diversifie ses activités. Elle a ainsi participé, en juillet 2010, au programme d'éducation par les arts, organisé par Tamise et l'UNICEF pour la promotion de l'hygiène dans les camps de sinistrés. Elle a réalisé une tournée de 6 musiciens sélectionnés parmi les dix-huit membres de la bande à pied. En 2012, « Follow Jah » a été choisie pour animer la 6e édition du Festival International de Jazz de Port-au-Prince et la parade d’ouverture du festival de théâtre Quatre Chemins. Enfin, en décembre 2012, 6 musiciens de la bande, ont participé au festival Africolor (Paris - France). and "Odyssey of Black Music" (Port-au-Prince, 2013)
