Haiti - Politic : Evans Paul informs the U.S. State Department...

Wednesday at the Primature, the Prime Minister, Paul Evans, met Haiti Special Coordinator Thomas Adams for the U.S. State Department, in the presence of U.S. Ambassador Pamela White.

On the agenda of this meeting, it was a question of the organization of elections, political party financing, budget support, the correction of the current budget, corruption and anti-government protests. The Head of Government, reiterated the commitment of the administration Martelly-Paul o create the conditions of stability essential to the holding of credible, transparent and democratic elections during this year.

Evans Paul confirmed to Tom Adams, the Government's commitment to fund political parties to participate in the upcoming elections, according to criteria to be defined by the authorities and members of political parties. Mr. Adams assured of the U.S. financial support to the electoral process.

He also informed that the Government was planning to take measures to rectify the budget for the current year and increased tax revenues. Stating that these measures will help to finance priority projects that will be identified. Moreover, the Government indicated that it proposed to create an Interministerial Commission on fight against corruption.

Regarding demonstrations, the Minister Paul confirmed his interlocutor, the government pledged to guarantee individual freedoms, the rights to peaceful protest and the rights of citizens to peacefully go about their activities.
