Haiti - Politic : A

Thursday, the activists of popular organizations, responded in numbers to this umpteenth anti-government demonstration, to the call among others of the "Patriotic Movement for Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD), the "Movement of Freedom, of Equality of Haitians for Brotherhood" (MOLEGHAF) and of the "Patriotic Force for the Respect of the Constitution" (FOPARC), the "Opposition Tèt Ansanm" (OTAN), Fanmi Lavalas and the Platform Pitit Dessalines of former Senator Moïse Jean-Charles.

Several scene of vandalism and violence were observed ialong the route of the demonstration. Merchants and students have reported being victims of theft.

Individuals smashed windscreens and tried to burn a white Toyota Hilux car, registered #03017, of the State service made available to Dr. Paul Bern, assigned to the medical service of the National Police, and other private vehicles. Only the intervention of the security forces has prevented the fire from spreading, limit the damage and prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

Opposition leaders have denounced infiltration within their demonstrations, which according to them, "are always peaceful" and claimed not to be responsible for these acts of violence, they denounce the maneuvers of the government team led by Evans Paul. According Assad Volcy (Pitit Desalin) and Louis Gerald Gilles (Fanmi Lavals) it is "an attempt to discredit the democratic opposition, pointing to a certain area of the new government, which has the reputation of organizing scenes of violence in the demonstrations and then accuse the population."

Furthermore Assad Volcyrevealed that former Parliamentarians (of G6and some deputies), were preparing to take to the streets alongside the protesters to make their voices heard, having no longer tribune in Parliament. Rony Timothée of the FOPARC stated that the mobilization would continue in other areas of the capital.

The demonstration ended traditionally before the Faculty of Ethnology near the National Palace.
