Haiti - Dominican Republic : Student visa, important information

In a note dated Thursday, May 7, 2015, the Embassy of Haiti in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic recalls that the student visa is required for anyone wishing to pursue studies in the Dominican Republic. This visa must be requested from the Dominican Consulate in Haiti or to any designated representations where the solicitor resides.

Documents required for the solicitation of student visa :

  • Supporting documents for admission to a University ;

  • An ID photo 4x5 white background ;

  • Original passport ;

  • Medical certificate ;

  • Test blood count ;

  • Certificate of good life and morals ;

  • Copies of passport and previous visas if exists ;

  • Copie de la carte d'identité ;

  • Fill the student visa application form from the Dominican chancellery website; ;

  • Document for economic solvency (Examples: Bank Statement, Working letter of parents or guardians) ;

  • If the document is sent to the Dominican Republic, it must be certified by a notary public and legalized by the Attorney General of the Dominican Republic ;

  • Cover letter directed to the Dominican Consulate by the solicitor or his representative, indicating the name, nationality and ambitions of education (including university, career, etc.).

Plase note :

  • The request made from the outside of the Dominican Republic costs 80 US dollars ;

  • Student visa renewals are so far, a courtesy of the Dominican State.

Mandatory recommendations :

The Embassy of Haiti in Dominican Republic urges students not to bring a tourist visa or other type that the one of staudentin order to enjoy the prerogatives relating to status. Similarly, it is invited to only present the visa application to the Dominican Consulate in Haiti or other representations designated depending on the country where it is located; in order to ensure the authenticity of the visa.
