Haiti - Repatriations : Many political visits on the Haitian border

Monday, as part of the implementation of the contingency plan prepared by the Haitian Government, at the initiative of the Prime Minister, Evans Paul, a delegation led by Victor Benoit, the Minister of Social Affairs went to Belladère in order to assess the accommodation of voluntary returns from the Dominican Republic. The Minister Benoit took the opportunity to hold a working meeting with the communal authorities and civil society of Belladère.

The Prime Minister, Evans Paul went the same day in Anse-à-Pitres and Thomassique for a supervisory visit and of solidarity. These visits in these border areas have enabled the Head of Government to to see the reception conditions for future returnees, that the government has already created as part of its contingency plan.

Alongside humanitarian convoys have left the National Emergency Operations Centre (COUN) towards Malpasse, Thomassique, Ouanaminthe and other border points.

Rothchild François Jr., the Spokesman of the Government accompanied by Robert Labrousse, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, at the head of a large delegation, visited the border area of Malepasse in order to make an assessment of arrangements put in place by the government to soon welcome our fellow Haitians deported by the Dominican authorities.

François Jr, who held talks with local authorities, recalled the strong commitment of the Government to take all measures to help our brothers and sisters who will be expelled from the neighboring Republic. He was also able to inquire about the measures taken by the Immigration Service, of the Ministry of Public Health and Population, the Directorate of Civil Protection and the Haitian Red Cross, also present on site and who are ready to intervene if needed.

A reception center transitional located at the National School of Fonds-Parisien, managed by the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, was arranged to accommodate the returnees, who will receive food and hygiene kits.

The Spokesman of the Government, while reiterating the call for national solidarity of Prime Minister Evans Paul, said that "the whole government was mobilized to welcome our compatriots in the best conditions at the various points of official entry on the border."
