Haiti - Dominican Republic : The conditions for a bilateral dialogue are not met

Reacting to the statements of the Uruguayan Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), who wants to hold a joint meeting with the Haitian and Dominican authorities on the migration crisis between the two countries on the island, the Dominican Chancellor Andrés Navarro said that the conditions for a dialogue with Haiti were not met, while the Haitian government maintained its aggressive attitude against the Dominican Republic.

"You can not ask anyone to sit down to talk, when you are in front of an agenda of attacks and unfounded allegations against the other party," stressing that the resumption of dialogue must be conditioned.

"The Dominican Republic can not go sit with Haiti if current conditions do not change [...] The Dominican Nation needs to see a clear signal of the Haitian government, that it changed its attitude towards Dominican Republic [...] the conditions that have created the Haitian government, with statements in international forums do not allow a dialogue between the two parties."
