Haiti - Elections : Alliance between COREH and Mirlande Manigat

At a press conference Monday, The Collective for Renewal Haitian (Collectif pour le Renouveau Haïtien COREH) [formed among other of former parliamentarians] supported the candidate Mirlande Hyppolite Manigat (Rassemblement des Démocrates Nationaux Progressistes - RDNP)

Sen. Artibonite, Youri Latortue one of the leaders of COREH said "The choice of Mirlande Manigat is a choice moral, social, political, nationalist and progressive [...] It is the only candidate who meets criteria and the collective aspirations", adding the importance of having an experienced and competent head of state.

For his first outing with his new allies, Ms. Manigatis committed to respect the alliance with the group if it acceded to the Presidency "I am a woman in all its fullness with the awareness that in comparison to the situation of the country I am a privileged, therefore I must give the country a part of what he gave me"

Evallière Beauplan, another leader of COREH, believed that this support is a "responsible decision" declaring that the presidential candidate of RDNP was "a woman of state imbued with the socio-economic development" arguing in favor of a responsible state capable of dealing with the international community and working to recover the sovereignty of Haiti.
