Haiti - Social : Educate youth about the importance of civic engagement

Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August, 300 young people will celebrate the International Youth Day on the theme "Jèn, angajman nou konte" to the Sport for Hope Centre, at the intersection of Route 9 and Route Nationale #1.

During these two days, the 300 young people will participate in educational and recreational activities on issues related to the role of young people today in Haitian society. The reflections will focus on topics including: The young talents including to look at the studies; The demographic dividend including youth sexuality, comprehensive sexuality education, family planning, fertility and employment; Youth leadership including the look on citizenship, Sustainable Development Goals, social participation and democratic processes; The well-being of young people and what a young needs to be happy in life ? and finally health through sport and recreation.

The program will include testimonies, presentations, films, commented exhibitions, debates within the five thematic moderate by experts and youth, as well as cultural and sports activities, including theater, chess, checkers, handball, badminton and concerts.

This International Youth Day 2015, aims to educate young people about the importance of civic engagement, their health and their ability to ameliorate the situation of their country through civic actions, accountable, democratic and united.

This event is organized by the Ministry of Education and the United Nations in Haiti through the United Nations Population Fund, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, the Ministry of Public health, the Haitian Olympic Committee and the Promotion of Volunteering Network TECHNO, whose the United Nations Volunteers program.
