Haiti - Economy : Trade totally paralyzed at the border of Dajabón

Thursday morning around 7:00 am, started a cessation of commercial activities on the border with Dajabón, for an indefinite period in order to protest against the ban on the entry into Haiti of 23 dominican products by land https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15156-haiti-notice-import-ban-by-road-of-certain-products-from-dr.html

Although the border remained open, the circulation of vehicleswere almost nonexistent. The street leading to the binational market and gate of the border was blocked by Dominican trucks of Dajabón affiliate of the National Federation of Dominican Transportation (FENATRADO). The strike is also supported by the "Federación de Comerciantes Unidos" of Dajabón and of Haiti trade organizations.

Security has been strengthened by members of the Specialized Corps of Border Security (CESFRONT) and members of the Dominican National Police, led by the commander of the detachment of Dajabón, Colonel Francisco Vargas.

For his part, Fernando Diaz, President of the Association of sellers on the market, said it will not allow the entrance of any product for trade with the exception of humanitarian goods.

Also Thursday, several traders closed the entrance and exit of the town of Jimani to protest against the ban by Haiti of several Dominican products.
