Haiti - Security : Important Jamaican arms trafficker killed by PNH

According to an official of the Jamaican police force, a man known as "Mention" suspected of being one of the main suppliers of arms and ammunition to the Jamaican underworld, was killed Friday in a clash with Haiti's police.

Investigators of Jamaica say "Mention" was part of a gang, which operated in the Old Harbour Bay area before moving to Haiti to launch a lucrative guns-for-drugs syndicate.

Also, other Jamaican individuals, resident in Haiti for some time, believed to be major players in this trade, were also reportedly arrested and detained during the police operation in Haiti.

Note that this operation comes just days after the National Police (PNH), with the assistance of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), seized 13 illegal firearms, assorted ammunition and near 2,500 pounds of ganja.

In a few days, the Deputy Police Commissioner Glenmore Hinduism, will lead a delegation of the JCF in Haiti, to consult its Haitian colleagues on measures to tackle the guns-for-drug trade.
