Haiti - Crisis : The Bar Association worried about the risk of escalation...

In a note, signed by the President of the Bar Stanley Gaston, the Bar Association of Port-au-Prince found after the postponement of the elections, "the radicalization of the protagonists in their position and risk of escalation with unpredictable consequences for the country."

Taking into account the best interests of the country, the Council of the Bar Association underlines to the attention of all "that the future of the country and welfare of the population, must remain the only concern and that, despite the 'non-anticipation of the presidential vacancy in end of term' by the 1987 Constitution, the search for a solution close of legality is necessary to avoid an impasse."

Concluding that in future only the respect of the rule of law must be the compass and a guarantee for a peaceful alternation.
