Haiti - Politic : Towards the call for candidates for a Temporary President

Call for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic a.i.

In a note dated Monday, Dr. Rony Gilot, General Secretary of the Senate and Me Jelaime Pierre, Secretary General of the Chamber of Deputies, announced that in order to implement the Agreement of February 6, 2016 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16533-haiti-politic-the-details-of-the-agreement-from-a-to-z.html "In the greatest transparency and in the necessary urgency," the Bureau of the National Assembly took the following provisions :

1. Installation of a special Bicameral Commission of 15 members (6 senators and 9 deputies) responsible for :

  • Establish the procedure to be followed for the election of the interim president ;

  • Define the application criteria ;

  • Develop a form to be completed by applicant ;

  • Make a list of documents to be filed by the applicant ;

  • Develop a pact for strict compliance with the Agreement to be signed by every applicant ;

  • Receive the candidatures to the date and under the conditions set out in a statement by the Bicameral Commission.

2. Launch of a call for candidates in the shortest possible time by the Commission.

3. Meeting for two days with several sectors of national life.

"The Bureau of the National Assembly reiterates its request to the social and political forces of the country to observe a truce to enable a constructive dialogue and the fulfillment of this intense process of reflection and patriotic action in peace, serenity and in the union of all the girls and all the son of the Fatherland.
