The vote of confidence essential for the PM named

On Friday, the Prime Minister named Fritz-Alphonse Jean https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16721-haiti-flash-fritz-alphonse-jean-appointed-prime-minister.html was invested in the National Palace. Note that the 1987 amended Constitution does not provide for ratification in Parliament, however, the Prime Minister and members of his team will have to appear in both Houses of Parliament to get the approval of the declaration of general policy. In case of vote of no confidence the process falls.

The G9 does not intend to approve thegeneral policy of PM named

Senators Dieupi Chérubin and Youri Latortue member of a minority group (G9) disapprove the choice of the economist Fritz Jean as the new Prime Minister named and do not intend to approve his statement of general policy in the upper house.

Recall that the Prime Minister named will need 16 votes in the Senate for approval of his General Policy and his team, while the great body currently has 24 senators, whose only 23 can vote (the President of the House does not vote). The G9, if it in solidarity, constitutes thus a blocking minority that could prevent the installation of the PM (in the absence of a vote of confidence).

Irregular appointment of the Prime Minister...

Cholzer Chancy, the President of the Lower House, said the two branches of Parliament, under the current Constitution, should have each constituted a Special Commission to rule on the eligibility of the new Prime Minister and it is only after this stage that his nomination should have been made.

Statement by Michaëlle Jean

Following the inauguration Friday of the Prime Minister named Fritz-Alphonse Jean, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16725-haiti-flash-inauguration-of-the-prime-minister-named.html , Michaëlle Jean the Secretary General of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) said "A new important stage has been reached for the completion of the electoral process."

The Protestant Federation has chosen its representative

The Protestant Federation of Haiti (FPH) confirmed in a letter that the Doctor in Theology Frinel Joseph was chosen as representative of Reformed Worship to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).
