Haiti - Politic : The Minister of Planning requests assistance of UNICEF

This week, Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, held a working session with Marc Vincent, the Representative in Haiti, of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

During this meeting hich took place around the major projects of this UN agency, Marc Vincent has summarized to the Minister Fleurant, all the work carried out by UNICEF in Haiti include: analysis of the situation and the child protection in Haiti, the situation of children in domestic service, the health situation of children, the problem of acute malnutrition, prospecting study on child protection...

For his part, the Minister clearly expressed to the UNICEF Representative, his tendency for the protection of the child and expressed hope that the UN Organization accompanied the Haitian government in the construction of a mega Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre in Conflict with the Law (CERMICOL) to prevent children are incarcerated in inappropriate places.

Moreover, he also sought support from UNICEF as part of the realization of a vast project of children without identification documents throughout the country. To this end, he provided we use the potential of students in Legal Sciences for the implementation of this project, in close line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

After this meeting, the Minister announced to the UNICEF representative in Haiti of his commitment for a reform of cooperation, like Mali and Wanda enabling more effective and efficient use of external assistance in the development process of Haiti.
