Haiti - Social : Anti-election demonstration in Port-au-Prince

Following the call to the demonstration , initiated by candidates Leslie Voltaire and Charles Henri Baker (Among others of group), requesting the annulment of the elections, several hundred people have marched today in the streets of the Haitian Capital Port-au-Prince. The demonstration that started at the Place de la Constitution was completed in front of the the offices of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

Among the demonstrators, supervised by the Haitian National Police (PNH), was present some of the 15 presidential candidates, BAKER Charles Henri of Regwoupman sitwayen pou espwa (Respè), CÉANT Jean Henry of Renmen Ayiti, JEUNE Léon J. of Konbit Liberation Ekonomik (KLE) and ALEXIS Jacques Édouard of Mobilisation pour le Progrès d'Haïti (MPH), who expressed on Sunday, victims of frauds at the profit of the candidate INITE (Jude Célestin). The demonstrators shouted slogans "Stop Préval" or "Cancel the elections", and waved placards where one could read, among other: "Aba eleksyon machoket" or "Aba KEP.

Following the demonstration, burning barricades were erected on the Delmas street, some UN vehicles were targeted of stones throwing.

A new demonstration is scheduled this Sunday, December 5.
