Haiti - Culture : Haiti in the spotlight at the Toronto International Film Festival

Filmmakers and Haitian actors will be featured at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) from 8th to 18th September 2016. Will be present among others : Filmmaker Raoul Peck, Guetty Feline, Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, US-Haitian filmmaker, Guetty Felin...

Unconventional documentary about the black American writer James Baldwin, of the Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck will be presented in world premiere at TIFF, Saturday, Sept. 10, followed by a second screening on Monday 12 and another at Film Festival New York in October.

Released under the title "I Am Not Your Negro" the film is a project that Peck has worked for at least 6 years and he has done with the full cooperation of the Baldwin succession. A very creative documentary where Peck plays with the idea that Baldwin in fact write what was to be a book a masterpiece, which depicts Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., all died assassinated.

The Haitian-American filmmaker, Guetty Felin also participate in this Festival. She will present her most recent film "Ayiti, mon amour" which will be screened twice during the festival on 10 and 18 September. The film is in Haitian Creole and translated into French, English and Japanese.
