Haiti - Politics : Security Plan for the Holiday Season

On Thursday, at the National Palace, de facto President Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, chaired a meeting around a Security Plan for the holiday season.

The meeting was attended by Camille Jr, Edouard Minister of Justice and Public Security, Himler Rébu, Secretary of State for Public Security, Michel-Ange Gédéon, Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Haiti.

According to the Government "This new Security Plan must make it possible to face many situations, particularly those which have been particularly difficult developed during the demonstrations in the streets since the period of contestations ofelections of 20 November 2016. It also follows the imperative need to guarantee a climate of peace and serenity in the country the day before, during and after the holiday season in this context of electoral tension. Finally, it aims to safeguard the security atmosphere which allows, for example, the tourism sector to show complete for this period."
