On Thursday, 16 March, as part of the investigation of Jean Anthony Nazaire's case involved in a money laundering case, former President Jean Bertrand Aristide 20369 www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20369-haiti-justice-aristide-called-to-appear-in-court.html has not responded, again, to the warrant of appearance as a witness, issued by the investigating judge Jean Wilner Morin. Which consequently deferred this hearing to 20 March next.

According to the information available, there is, on the one hand, a formal defect mentioned in the warrant of appearance, concerning the absence of identification of the month of the drafting of the said mandate and of its date of signature.

On the other hand Me Gervais Charles one of the lawyers of Aristide, explains that his colleague Mario Joseph, lawyer of Aristide in charge of this file, which received this mandate in his offices, was not in Haiti. A letter requesting postponement of this hearing would have been sent by Me Mario Joseph, relying on the Constitution in article 25.1 which states "No one can be interrogated in the absence of his lawyer or a witness of its choice."

Me Gervais Charles, informs that his client is ready to respond to any new invitation from the judge and that Me Mario Joseph will be present in Haiti.

However, remember that former President Aristide, has never appeared at any summons of the Haitian justice for various cases since 2014, his lawyers multiplying the reports for a multitude of reasons...
