Haiti - Politics : European Union-Haiti Cooperation Festival

From 2 to 16 May, Europe is celebrated in Haiti. Thanks to a Program prepared by the European Union, in association with the European Union Member States present in Haiti (Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom) and numerous partners, no fewer than 28 activities that bring together educational activities and diverse festivals honoring the values of the European Union and cooperation with Haiti are planned in three cities: Les Cayes, Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien.

"I am particularly pleased that Switzerland and the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles have joined forces with us for this Week of Europe, illustrating the solidarity between the European countries and Haiti. For 60 years, the European Union and its Member States and partner countries have promoted Peace, Solidarity and Democracy both inside and outside its borders," declared the European Union Ambassador to Haiti, Vincent Degert

This Week of Europe is organized with the French Institute in Haiti, implementation partner, but also Switzerland through, among other things, an active participation in the thematic conferences and the film festival as well as Wallonia-Brussels International and the European Program for Culture (AfricAmerica Foundation, Voluntary Service for Haitian Development and COOPI). The activities in the provinces (Les Cayes and Cap-Haïtien) are made possible thanks to the collaboration with the French Alliances.

In addition, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the cooperation of Wallonia-Brussels and Haiti, in which Wallonie-Bruxelles International supports the arrival of three Belgian artists and two sound and light technicians at the Festival. In addition to providing entertainment, the latter will provide technical training to Haitian directors.
