Haiti - Politics : Tabling of 4 Business Bills

Tuesday, at the invitation of the Chamber of Deputies' Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, Pierre Marie Du Meny, the Minister of Trade and Industry tabled 4 bills on business intended to create a climate that may encourage the creation of massive jobs and a sustainable recovery of the Haitian economy.

It is a set of business-friendly provisions, including provisions to facilitate and modernize the development and operation of enterprises by increasing their productive capacity and ensuring the protection of investors and creditors.

Bills tabled :

  • The Bill for the establishment of the sole proprietorship and the overhaul of company law, which brings together in a single text all the provisions on sole proprietorships and commercial companies and is the flagship for the modernization of business law, undertaken by this reform ;

  • The Bill for Reforming the Status of Traders and Commercial Acts and Organizing the Commercial Register, which is a bill that is part of the revision of a set of old and outdated laws, in order to adapt them to the requirements of globalization and new communication and information technologies ;

  • The Bill to regulate leasing operations, which aims to provide opur legislation of a credit mechanism, which should facilitate the creation and financing of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), in particular by enabling them to have access to essential goods to the operation of their business ;

  • The Bill on the lease for professional use, which introduces flexibility in commercial or industrial lease relationships, in order to attract investors towards the construction of commercial buildings in the country.
