Haiti - Weather : Week at risk !

Sunday, the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) of the Ministry of the Interior held a technical meeting at the National Emergency Operations Center (COUN) in Delmas 2 on the evolution of the meteorological situation in the Atlantic and the Caribbean.

It was mainly about the formation of some tropical waves in the Region hitherto without danger for Haiti. Nevertheless, the DPC is following in particular the tropical wave "Inverse 92", located near the Arc Antillais, which could influence the meteorological situation and affect several parts of the island in the next 72 hours.

In anticipation, the DPC invites the Departmental Risk Management Coordinations and all civil protection structures at the decentralized level to increase awareness face the risks of rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and rough seas, capable of reaching in particular the southern coasts, the departments of the Center and the North-West.

Given Haiti's level of vulnerability, the DPC calls on the population to follow the weather conditions information transmitted, in particular, by the National Meteorological Center and to review the safety instructions to be applied in the event of an emergency in order to protect lives and preserve goods.

The Directorate of Civil Protection also reminds the entire population that the hurricane season began on the first of June and invites it to continue its preparation at the family and community levels in order to cope with all eventualities.
