Haiti - Duvalier : "Baby Doc" back in France on January 20 ?
17/01/2011 13:02:29

Haiti - Duvalier :

Didier Le Bret, Ambassador of France in Haiti, revealed that he was informed Sunday of the arrival of Mr. Duvalier in Haiti while the latter was landing in Guadeloupe "I immediately informed the Haitian authorities which were not informed. For his part, Bernard Valero, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France, stressed that "the French authorities had not been informed of his trip to Port-au-Prince"...

Moreover, the Ambassador said that Mr. Duvalier was not subject to any special measures in France where he lives in exile "He was free in his movements, he had a residence permit that allowed him to move in France or abroad, that is why there was no alert when he left Paris for the Guadeloupe".

Didier Le Bret clarified that Jean-Claude Duvalier "is in possession of a return ticket for Paris, for the January 20 [...] It has a reservation to return to Paris on January 20, I hope he will use it [...] his arrival in the current context, is not desirable, at the time we need calm to get out of a difficult political situation".

The existence of this reservation confirms the words of Véronique Roy, the wife of Jean Claude Duvalier, who declared Yesterday Sunday to reporters at the Karibe Hotel, that J.C. Duvalier had to stay three days in Haiti.
