Haiti - Technology : Coteaux hybrid power plant, soon rehabilitated

Based in Coteaux the hybrid power plant, 140 kilowatts solar and 370 kilowatts diesel https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10599-haiti-economy-first-electric-cooperative-in-haiti.html was severely damaged by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016.

Let's recall that following the post-Matthew inventory, the technicians began the excavation work for the rehabilitation of this plant, which provided energy before the damage caused by the passage of Hurricane Matthew 15 hours a day, to 1,008 households of a cooperative of 1,273 members in the communes of Coteaux, de Roche-a-Bateau and of Port-salut.

"Currently, we are obliged to provide only 4 hours of energy per day," deplores Rhito Thilus, Director of the plant, who expects that the work will be completed in 2 months and will allow to consider a wider territorial coverage of the coastal zone.

Established by the American firm ENRECA and administered by the Coopérative Électrique of the Arrondissement des Coteaux (ECAC) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10599-haiti-economy-first-electric-cooperative-in-haiti.html this mixed plant benefits from the UN financial and technical support environment / Haiti from a fund of the Government of Norway.
