Haiti - Elections : Tension rises pending the results...

The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has still not confirmed the time of publication for the final results of the first round. Everyone predicted an hour, but nobody is certain. What is certain, is that the announced time will not be respected, as was the case is for preliminary results, where they were released 2 hours after the hour... Patience is therefore rigour, the evening will be long and the night may be "animated "...

Most commercial banks have closed their doors since 2:00 pm and school principals took the initiative to return their pupils at home. If this morning the presence of security forces was quiet, more time progresses, the less it is. To avoid outbreaks of violence post-result, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and UN peacekeepers are omnipresent, mainly in strategic crossroads. The police have deployed patrols in several areas of Port-au-Prince, Armoured vehicles of Minustah are positioned in front of the premises of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). An important safety device is now visible in the streets of Port-au-Prince.

People on the streets are rushing to return home. Public transport are rare. Those who were able, have made food reserves have reported to us several stores showing us shelves completely empty. The gas stations were also busy, some have even missed fuel.
