Haiti - Literature : The Haitian writer Yanick Lahens, holder of the new chair «Mondes francophones»

Alain Prochiantz, Administrator of the Collège de France, and Jean-Paul de Gaudemar, Rector of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), signed the partnership agreement on July 4 for the creation of the "Mondes Francophones" Chair at College de France.

This Chair, created initially for three years, will see each year a new holder come from a French-speaking country, in different fields of arts and sciences.

The Collège de France announces that the Haitian writer Yanick Lahens has been named the first holder of this chair, for the academic year 2018/2019

Born in December 22, 1953 in Port-au-Prince, the writer, novelist Yanick Lahens, engaged in the social and cultural development of Haiti, brushes without complacency the picture of the Caribbean reality in each of her novels. Remember that this great figure of Haitian literature received in 2011 the Award of Excellence of the Association of Haitian Studies for all of his work, the 2014 Femina Prize, for his novel "Bain de lune" by Sabine Wespieser Editions https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12434-haiti-literature-the-novelist-yanick-lahens-received-the-prix-femina-2014.html and the Carbet Prize of high school students the same year for his book "Guillaume et Nathalie" Editions Sabine Wespieser 2013.
