Haiti - FLASH : Attempt attack against President Moïse

This Wednesday around 9:30 am in Pont-Rouge, as part of the commemoration of the 212th anniversary of the death of Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines, President Jovenel Moïse was the target of gunfire while he was laying a floral offering as a tribute to the father of the Nation.

His bodyguards prevented any movement of President Moïse, who was not touched, until they were able to safely transfer him by air to another destination.

During the shooting, two of the security officers of President Moïse of the National Palace General Security Unit (USGPN) were wounded, including one at the head. Other unconfirmed sources report at least 3 injured people.

Despite this attempt on his person, the President still wanted to continue his day by going to Marchand Dessalines where he attended a mass.

"He escaped unscathed from the shooting which took place in the first part of the ceremony," said sociologist Gilbert Mervellus, who said today was a difficult day for the Nation "That is to say, the opposition program is just beginning, because we are expecting a lot of protests in every region of the country today."
