Haiti - NOTICE : The Digital Observatory worried about the misuse of social networks

The Digital Observatory in Haïti (ObNH) expresses its concern on the misuse of new media, particularly the social media platforms, with the sharing of multimedia contents that infringe upon privacy and individual liberties.

It is with great concern that ObNH noticed that a large majority of Internet users and institutions are contributing, through digital media, to the dissemination of graphic contents without regard to ethical and moral values.

ObNH wants to remind everyone that, regardless of the context, the use of digital tools and applications must always take into account the respect of dignity and human rights, as well as the values that elevate us as a responsible society.

ObNH believes it is the appropriate time to reiterate, on behalf of a shared responsibility, a call to institutional actors especially academics, civil society, and public institutions for the expansion of initiatives on digital risks and its challenges.

The Digital Observatory takes this opportunity to encourage the public to demonstrate more thoughtful behavior, in accordance with the respect of values when using the new media and the Internet.
