Wednesday in the morning, as part of the Humanitarian Return Plan put in place by the Chilean Government https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-25877-haiti-flash-chile-launches-its-free-voluntary-return-plan-to-haiti.html a fifth plane, carrying 170 Haitians returning voluntarily from Chile, landed in Port-au-Prince, bringing to 847 the number of Haitians returning to the country to date.

Rodrigo Ubilla, the Chilean Under-Secretary of the Interior, said that on the flight, for the first time, there was a family composed of parents and a two-and-a-half year old girl. Arrived in Chile in 2016 the pregnant woman of 6 months gave life to her daughter in Chile. However, the dreams of a better future did not materialize and that is why they made the decision to return to Haiti. Noting that the rest of the passengers were between 18 and 44 years old.

According to the Department of Immigration and Foreign Affairs, currently 1,329 Haitians are enrolled in the plan and waiting to return to Haiti, other applications are being processed.

Recall that Haitians in Chile, who wish to return to Haiti at the expense of the Chilean Government, can register since 17 October 2018 on the website of the Department of Immigration : https://tramites.extranjeria.gob.cl/etapas/ejecutar/2984

To qualify for this program, Haitians must not have a legal situation in progress and they must sign a notarized declaration in which they undertake not to return to Chile in the next 9 years. If migrants have a spouse, partner or children, they must complete the process jointly and travel in groups.
