Unlike the cancellations of the Port-au-Prince carnival hhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26999-haiti-flash-port-au-prince-cancels-its-carnival.html and that of the Croix-des-Bouquets https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26994-haiti-flash-mayor-colin-announces-the-cancellation-of-carnival-2019-of-croix-des-bouquets.html , the carnival of Jacmel will take place Sunday, February 24, 2019 around the theme "Kanaval rekonsilyasyon, yon lòt Jakmèl posib" amputated this year of Friday and Saturday, due to the constraints of socio-political unrest.

At 2 days of this event which has acquired over the years an international reputation in the workshops everyone is eager to bring the latest touches to the masks, costumes and floats while the walking bands and masquerades are in full swing repetition to offer the caranavaliers the best show possible.

On Sunday 17 February, more than thirty groups in disguise and a dozen bands on foot and musical groups had the opportunity to march on the official carnival route, on Barranquilla Avenue before the big day.

The carnival budget of Jacmel is 10 million Gourdes, half of which is intended to cover the debt of the Carnival 2018 and the organizing committee, while continuing discussions with the Minister of Culture, is still waiting for its decision as to the amount of its eventual contribution...

2 days before the event, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and all actors involved in the smooth running of the Carnival are mobilized and ready to play their part.
