Haiti - Economy : The Ministry of Finance evokes the delivery of 250,000 barrels of fuel

In a statement the Ministry of Economy and Finance informs the general public and consumers of petroleum products in particular that arrangements are being made for the supply of petrol stations, continues to be normal despite the precarious financial situation of the Oil Companies https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27779-haiti-flash-imports-of-petroleum-products-new-endangered-in-the-country.html caused by the non-refund of negative taxes (government subsidy assumed by the oil companies) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27869-haiti-economy-the-government-is-no-longer-able-to-pay-its-debts-to-oil-companies.html

Pump prices remain unchanged and an order of 250,000 barrels (petrol, diesel, kerosene) from DINASA will be delivered by next week to supply the market.

The Ministry urges the population to keep calm and not to give in to the manipulations of social groups seeking to bring about disorder and instability in the country.

Recall that mid May, six oil companies (Kimazou, Bandari Haiti SA, CapInvest, Dinasa, Sol Haiti and DNC) warn in a correspondence, the Minister of Economy and Finance that due to "[...] amounts recently owed by the customs administration to our companies [reimbursement of taxes owed by the State] are of a magnitude [...] such that today, our industry predicts that it will no longer have the financial resources to supply the local market in the weeks to come. It is therefore our duty to inform you of the urgency of this alarming situation."
