Haiti - Politic : «The worst is to come if...»

In a note of 12 June, JURIMEDIA, a Haitian Association for the Promotion of Human Rights and Democratic Governance, whose mission is to mobilize citizen engagement to empower the State and defend the rights of the most vulnerable populations, "observes with great concern the descent into the underworld of the country, under the impassive eyes of political decision-makers and their allies."

JURIMEDIA said take note of "different scenarios of procrastination that followed each of the movements of citizen awakening calling the ruling elite to redress the economic, social, political and security situation in Haiti that continues to get worse over the days."

However, the Association deplores that "the ruling elites, dangerously minimize the seriousness of the situation, probably leaning on a war of attrition, ignore each time the social demands they trivialize on the contrary, thus raising a tendency to radicalization.

And in the face of the obvious deafness and silence of the Head of State regarding the cries that are sent to him, the Association calls for the responsibility of national and international allies of power to convince the political decision-makers of the imperative need to opt without delay for a peaceful solution to the current stalemate.

The hour is serious and the ostrich policy can only be genocidal. The economy, already drained, can no longer withstand a social breakdown worse than the riots of July 2018. The worst is to come if the ruling elites continue to be reluctant to take concrete action to restore confidence to the population suffering, who claims nothing more than a minimum of dignity and justice.
