In the latest report "Henley Passport Index 2019" published on July 2, 2019, which established the world ranking of 106 countries according to the freedom of movement of their citizens, the passports of Japan and Singapore occupy the first 2 places allowing their citizens to travel to 189 destinations worldwide without a visa.

The Haitian passport occupies 95th place out of 106 countries, a decline of 6 places compared to 2018 (89th) and 10 places compared to 2017 (85th). The Haitian passport makes it possible to travel in 2019 in 49 destinations but only in 3 countries without visa. In the Caribbean : Barbados and Dominica and in South America : Bolivia. The Haitian passport is the most limited in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Recall that in 1974 the Haitian passport occupies the 79th place but that visa-free travel restrictions observed today, are the result of the illegal migration of Haitians in many countries.

The Dominican Republic ranks 81st and its passport allows its citizens to travel to 63 destinations but only in 11 countries without a visa. Caribbean : Grenada, Montserrat and Trinidad & Tobago and South America : Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Nicaragua, Peru.

The best passport in the Caribbean is Barbados, which gives access to 158 countries without a visa.
