On Tuesday, Joseph Frantz Nicolas, the Director General of the National Fund for Education (FNE), accompanied by some of his technical advisers and Charles Levelt Joseph Consultant of the Special Program of Free Education (PROSGATE), met with representatives of the Conference of the Episcopal Schools of Haiti (CEEH), the Federation of Protestant Schools of Haiti (FEPH) and the National Federation of Haitian Mayors (FENAMH), three organizations that managed the funds for the taking into charge of tuition fees for children in difficult circumstances.

For Joseph Frantz Nicolas, the objective of this meeting was to discuss the use of the subsidygranted to these organizations for the schooling of students during the 2018-2019 school year (CEEH 40 million Gourdes, FEPH 30 million and FENAMH 2 million). The planning for the tuition fee subsidy for 2019-2020 was also discussed.

The Reverend Father Jean Loudeger Mazile of the CEEH thanked the Haitian State for helping disadvantaged children promised a final report in the coming days and encouraged the Government to continue to make Education for Poor Children accessible by helping them to support school fees.

Paul Etzaire, of the FEPH, assures that 400 schools with more than 11,000 children were affected by the subsidy, while 96% of the amount granted by the FNE was spent on July 5th.

For hispart, Chery Jean Joël, representative of the Federation, announced that the President of the Federation will shortly send the report of the expenses related to the 2018-2019 subsidy.

Recall that Article 27 of the law establishing and organizing the FNE refers to the assumption of tuition fees of the Special Program of Free Education, as part of the nature of the expenditures of the National Fund of Education.
