Arrived Sunday with the Curaçao football delegation for the second leg of CONCACAF League 1, Jairzinho Saül Emmanuel Pieter (31), the reserve goalkeeper of the Curaçao Senior National Team (3rd goalkeeper of his selection), died suddenly Monday at noon of an alleged heart attack, in his room at the Marriott Hotel Port-au-Prince. A death that caused a great stir among his teammates to just over 24 hours of the match...

On Monday, 9 September, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), deeply shocked to learn of the death of Jairzinho Saul Emmanuel Pieter of the Curaçao national team, hastened "to express of live voice to the visiting delegation, the condolences of the Haitian people and asks President Reginald Francisca to convey his sympathies to his country in this terrible circumstance."

As soon as alerted the medical services of the FHF whose President of the medical commission, Dr. Martial Beneche rushed to the scene to help; the FHF continues in collaboration with the Haitian authorities including the Minister of Sports, the Consulate of Holland in Haiti, to accompany the Curaçao Federation in the process to repatriate the body of the athlete in his country.

FHF member Jeanty Thécieux confirmed the continuation of the return match Haiti - Curaçao "the leaders of the Curaçao Federation have indicated that their team will be present at the Sylvio Cator stadium Tuesday, September 10 at 6:00 pm to face the Grenadiers, despite the death of Pieter Jairzinho, their reservist goalkeeper."

Dr. Yves JEAN-BART, President of the FHF, invites all Haitian fans who will move to the stadium Sylvio Cator Tuesday, September 10 at 6:00 to support the national team, to participate in the brief pre-game ceremony to be organized by CONCACAF and FHF to greet the memory of the deceased.
