Haiti - FLASH : Cantave assaulted, his medical clinic and political office vandalized and set on fire

Carl Murat Cantave, Senate Speaker reports being physically assaulted by threatening individuals "I was attacked by chimeras accompanied by Senator Kato in my office. They grabbed me by the collar and tried to steal my phon," stressing that his security agents intervened and avoided the worst by forcing these thugs to leave office...

In addition, Senator Cantave deplores and denounces the attacks on several of his properties, including the burning of his medical clinic in Gonaïves, by individuals who opposed the holding of the ratification session and who, according to him, were "paid to burn my clinic" without mentioning the names of the people behind this criminal act but ensuring that the perpetrators of these acts will "pay dearly".

In addition to his clinic and the destruction of the materials it contained, the premises of the building housing the political office of the President of the Senate were ransacked, furniture and equipment thrown to the street before being burned.

These demonstrators also vandalized the premises of the Louise Gabrielle Foundation, owned by Senator Cantave's wife, located near her political office. The Office of the Departmental Delegation of Artibonite (Avenue of Dattes) were also ransacked.

Following this series of attacks, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) deployed a protection force in front of the residence of Senator Cantave...
