Haiti - Religion: Message from Mgr Pierre-André Dumas

Faced with the Covid-19 pandemic which affects 176 countries in the world https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30371-haiti-covid-19-daily-bulletin-march-26-2020.html , Mgr Pierre- André Dumas, Bishop of the Diocese of Anse-à-Veau and Miragoâne sent a message to the faithful and priests of his diocese.

Extract from the message of Mgr Pierre-André Dumas :

"[...] Given the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic in Haiti and in the world, we run the risk of having to change our social and ecclesial life, which has a tradition of two thousand years. Consequently, taking into account the measures of our Government and the indications of the Haitian Episcopal Conference (CEH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30191-haiti-health-religious-rally-and-preventive-measures-against-covid-19.html , I invite you to stay at home and make each house a domestic Church to live in prayer and solidarity with the poorest and the sickest."

Mgr Pierre-André Dumas, asks the priests for a greater pastoral presence in charity "to announce to the people of God and the sick of Covid-19, to the health workers, the plenary indulgence; celebrate the Eucharist with a group of 10 people maximum; suspend all pastoral and religious activity with parish groups; ensuring that the community does not panic and preaching the message that God never abandons his people."

To conclude Mgr Dumas "invokes the protection of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patron saint of Haiti, remembering that the people's prayer has always been heard on other occasions."
