Haiti - Education : Distance education for all, clarification...

Ralphson Pierre, the Coordinator of the Information Technology Unit for Communication in Education (UTICE), presented this week to the highest authorities of the Ministry : The Minister Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Secretary of State for Training Maguy Durcé, Director General of the Ministry, Dr. Meniol Jeune, Director of Cabinet of Minister Jackson Pléteau, members of the cabinet, technical directors and coordinators in the Directorate General of the Ministry, the project of "Educational Resources Platform and digital learning" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30400-haiti-technology-distance-education-soon-available.html

This platform called "PRATIC" which responds to an order from the Minister Cadet, will be made available to educational agents: school directors, parents, pupils and teachers, forced to stay at home because of the Covid-19 which affects the functioning normal institutions so that students can continue to train during the closure of schools.

The UTICE coordinator is giving himself until the end of this week to complete the technical implementation before going on to integrate the teaching materials that the technical teaching departments concerned are responsible for making available to it. The contents of the platform will cover preschool, basic, secondary and vocational.

Aware that a good part of the school public, for various reasons (electricity, internet...) will be unable to take advantage of this digital educational platform, Jackson Pléteau mentioned other means that will be used to make education accessible to all: lessons prepared by Radio Télé Éducative, an organ of the Ministry, will be broadcast on the radio and on the National Television of Haiti (TNH) as part of a partnership, educational printed materials will be distributed via the Service educational support.

For the Ministry, it is a question of using all the suitable ways in order to allow the students to continue their learning while waiting for the situation to return to normal for the relaunch of the school activities, in full safety.
